Piloting

-----------------------------=< Piloting >=------------------------------

Along with their Class levels, players also gain levels as Pilots.
Once you gain control of a ship, you may use it in combat. To gain
pilot levels, you will need to fight different spacecraft (and space
creatures) to earn experience.

As pilot levels are earned, the more skills are learned:

Piloting (Small Craft) - Level 1
Piloting (Fighters)      - Level 5
Patch Shields            - Level 8
Piloting (Bombers)       - Level 10
Ion Cannons              - Level 12
Draw Fire                - Level 16
Piloting (Medium Craft) - Level 20
Transport                - Level 25
Piloting (Large Craft) - Level 30
Repair Shields           - Level 35
Piloting (Capital Ships) - Level 40
Navigation Log           - Level 40
Salvo                    - Level 45
Piloting Scan            - Level 50
Repair Hull              - Level 55

Patch Shields

--------------------------=< Patch Shields >=----------------------------

Pilot Level 8

Usage: conc 'patch shields'

All pilots need to have rudimentary knowledge of shoring up weak spots
in their shields. They are not exactly fast at this, and cannot
patch shields in the middle of combat.

The amount of shields repaired depends on the size of your ship.

Ion Cannons

---------------------------=< Ion Cannons >=-----------------------------

Pilot Level 12

Usage: ion <target>

Ion Cannons are used to send out damaging pulses of energy that by pass
all shields and temporarily disable enemy ships, preventing them from
taking action. However, Ion Cannons require a great deal of energy
to use and need a short time to recharge before they can be used
again.

To use Ion Cannons, you must have both the skill to use them and the
special system installed on your ship. Ion Cannons are most effective
against similar sized opponents. An X-Wing can expect little result
against a star destroyer, and in reverse, a star destroyer will have
a hard time landing an Ion blast on an X-Wing.

Draw Fire

----------------------------=< Draw Fire >=------------------------------

Pilot Level 16

Usage: drawfire <name>

A skilled pilot can attempt to draw fire away from an ally in need.
This is done by flying your own ship between your ally and his attacker
in hopes that the attacker will target your ship instead. Such expert
piloting will leave you unable to do anything other than concentrate on
your flying for 1 round of combat.

A point to be made, in space combat, larger vessels draw more attention
than smaller ships. So in general, larger ships will be attacked more
when fighting as part of a group.

Transport

----------------------------=< Transport >=------------------------------

Pilot Level 25

Usage: transport <victim> ---- Transport a NPC follower
       unload ----------------- Unload everyone out of Transport
       translist -------------- List everyone in transport

The transport is needed to move NPC followers around with you on
hyperspace trips. Ships can hold a limited number of followers.
Until a later date, players cannot be transported, and you can only
transport your own followers. The Unload command will empty everyone
out of a transport, and the translist command will show you who's all
in your ship. You cannot remove a ship while mobs are in transport.
You also cannot load or unload a transport in an Indoors room, unless
it is a Landing Pad. (Imms may need help identifying landing pads that
are not allowing this command)

Ship Transport Maximums
--------------------------
Small/Fighter/Bombers   0 (1 R2 unit with Astromech system)
Medium Ships            4
Large Ships             8
Capital Ships           16

Although a pilot may have secure facilities inside their ship, once
the pilot unloads mobs from his ship they will rebel against the
pilot if they are no longer controlled followers.

Repair Shields

-------------------------=< Repair Shields >=---------------------------

Pilot Level 35

Usage: conc 'repair shields'

With this ability, a pilot can repair his/her shields while in
space, even when in combat. This is great for emergency repairs when
your shields are getting low.

Due to their knowledge of spacecraft, Technicians, and to a lesser
degree Smugglers will repair more shields than other classes.

The amount of shields repaired depends on the size of your ship.

Navigation Log

--------------------------=< Navigation Log >=---------------------------

Pilot Level 40
Usage: lognav
This skill allows a Pilot to update his or her nav-computer
to store the coordinates of planetary systems that were not originally
on-board. To utilize, simply put yourself in orbit around a planetary
system you would like to enter into your computer, and use the "lognav"
command.

Salvo

------------------------------=< Salvo >=--------------------------------

Pilot Level 50

Usage: salvo <victim>

Anyone with a ship armed with proton torpedoes or concussion missiles
can fire them at a single shot rate. But sometimes you need to
unload with everything you got in one fierce salvo. With the salvo
command, you can fire multiple torpedoes/missiles at your target.
The number fired depends on the size of your ship. Unlike the
single fire rate, however, it will take a while for all your weapons
tubes to be reloaded before you can fire again.

Salvo                       Size
-------------------         -----
Small Ships & Fighters      N/A
Bombers                     2
Medium Ships                2
Large Ships                 4
Capital Ships               8

Piloting Scan

--------------------------=< Piloting Scan >=----------------------------

Pilot level 55

Usage: scan

a version of the scan skill useable in space. A scanning array is required for use.

Repair Hull

---------------------------=< Repair Hull >=-----------------------------

Piloting Level 55

Usage: conc 'repair hull'

This ability allows you to repair your ships hull while in space,
even when in combat. This is great for emergency repairs when
you are about to blow. 50 units of Duranium are used every time
you repair your hull, even if you are already at 100%.

The amount of hull repaired depends on the size of your ship.
